Traumatic arthritis is one which is caused from blunt, penetrating or repeated trauma. It can also be caused if you force inappropriate motion to the joints and ligaments. Instability of joints, swelling of the joints, internal bleeding are the main symptoms of traumatic arthritis. Cartilage is flexible and act as shock absorber to prevent bones from friction. Any injury such as fracture and sprain will cause damage to particular cartilage. Sometimes the cartilage may not seem to be damaged from top and you will come to know about it only after several months. Once the cartilage piece gets ripped off due to injury and may have to be operated to remove it and prevent further damage to the existing tissues.
For most of the joints cause of traumatic arthritis is injury caused to the supporting ligaments of the body. If the injury persists for long time it will trigger the inflammatory response of the body. The example of traumatic arthritis is when your leg gets sprained and the swelling which occurs is called as traumatic arthritis. The occurrence of traumatic in joint is not fixed; sometimes it can occur with or without trauma. Basically traumatic arthritis is the result of the body’s reaction to the injury.
