What Is Psoriatic Arthritis?

This form of arthritis is regarded as one of the most complicated one. In psoriasis the person develops rashes on their skin which becomes red and has scales. On the other hand arthritis is the inflammation of the joints. Psoriatic arthritis is a chronic autoimmune disease wherein the cells and the antibodies of your immune system fight with your own body tissues. So basically the joints of different areas like knees elbows etc swell and become red in psoriatic arthritis. It generally affects the people of age group 35- 50 years. This rheumatic disease can also affect various internal parts of the body like kidney, liver, eyes, lungs and even heart if not taken care of properly.

Most of the people affected by psoriatic arthritis suffer from acute psoriasis. The affected area of the skin looks completely different from the rest of the skin areas. 5-8% of the people suffering from this terrible skin disease get affected by psoriatic arthritis. People irrespective of their age and sex can get affected by this disease. The men are susceptible of getting affected in the spine area and women are susceptible to joints pain when contracted by psoriatic arthritis.
