Hip osteoarthritis diagnosis can be done at home where you have to find out whether you feel any pain in moving your hips or do you feel that your hips become stiff after getting up from the bed in the morning. The doctor will first consider your medical history, followed by physical examinations and x-ray imaging technique. This will help the doctor to diagnose the extent to which the joint is damaged and accordingly formulate treatment. X ray treatment can help to decide the presence of arthritis but the extent to which the arthritis has damaged hip cannot be known. Looking at the x-ray we can find the amount of gap between the bones which will tell us the extent to which the cartilage of the hip is damaged. If the doctor is not satisfied with the test result then the next step is MRI test the results of which will confirm the presence or absence of hip arthritis. Sometimes blood test may also be conducted to find out whether there are possibilities of any other kind of arthritis. Radiographs are one more technique to find the evidence of this disease. Physical examination of hip osteoarthritis includes checking out the strength of the muscles and their reflexes.
