Genococcal Arthritis stems from the presence of certain bacteria in the body. The best ways of diagnosing this disease are Cervical Gram Stain test, Culture test of joint aspirate, Joint Fluid Gram Stain test and Throat Culture. In the cervical gram stain test, the health care provider obtains the tissue sample from the cervical canal of the patient. The obtained swab is then subjected to technician examination in order to confirm the presence of bacteria. The type of the malicious bacteria can be identified by the color, shape and size of the cells in the swab.
In culture test of joint aspirate, the special joint fluid is obtained to test the presence of any virus, fungi or bacteria. The fluid sample is carefully preserved in a special dish and then examined with various tests. The procedure for conducting the joint fluid gram stain test is similar to the culture test of joint aspirate. In this test too, the joint fluid is put under the examiner’s scrutiny for detecting the type of bacteria invading the patient’s body. The only difference in this test is that the swab is mixed with several colored stains before putting it for a microscopic examination. The throat culture involves the examination of the throat swab in order to detect the micro-organism responsible for the disease.
