Are There Foods That Can Cause Gout?

There are certain foods that can increase the chances of getting gout. Basically the foods that have high amount of fat and cholesterol are avoided as they have purines in great quantity. Some of the food items like fish, red meat, oysters should be reduced in the daily diet or should be avoided completely. All these foods can cause gout to you. Apart from this, even proteins and other things have high purine levels. When you will have such food items frequently then there are much more chances of contracting gout. Some of the dairy stuffs that should also be avoided which includes poultry and pork.

Other foods that can cause gout are organ meats like kidney, liver, heart etc. basically, the food that increase the levels of uric acid result into gout. Whether it is high in fats or low in fats, if the purine level is high then they will surely result into gout. Alcohol like beer and wine should is also one of the main reasons for the causing gout. Peas, mushrooms, beans, spinach, asparagus, lentils and many such similar food items should be consumed in limited amounts. Any excess intake of such food items will result into gout.
