Rheumatoid arthritis is no more a frightening condition as its used to be two decades ago. Fresh technologies like stem cell treatment works well in combating the condition. However, even today, the exact causes of rheumatoid arthritis are not known. Scientists are still carrying out research as to why the immune system turns out as its own enemy.
According to the compilation of the researches done over the number of years suggest the factors as given below:
Genetic: According to researches, some genes which play a vital role in immune system remain absent in the patients of rheumatoid arthritis. Thus a person’s genetic make up play a pivot role in determining presence of this disorder.
Environmental: Some scientists suggest that viral or bacterial infection may trigger the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis in a person. But it is important to know that this disorder is not contagious.
Hormonal: Some researchers support the view that hormonal factors may be involved in development of rheumatoid arthritis. Pregnant women often suffer from this form of arthritis due to abnormal secretion of hormones.
Some studies suggest that it is common among the females as compared to males. Some scientists even blame use of contraceptives as a cause of rheumatoid arthritis.
