Bursitis is a kind of disease which is caused due to injuries caused while performing any athletic activity. It may become an occupational hazard if it is subjected to repetitive motions for long period of time. Inside the joint there is a fluid filled sack which is known as bursa and it is present between the bones and the muscles or between bones and tendon. It acts as shock absorber providing protection to the soft tissues underneath. Rigorous movement of the bursa sac will cause it to swell followed by pain and this condition is named as bursitis.
If the bursa gets infected then it will give rise to pain and is called as infectious bursa. If you are suffering with common bursa and if you get fever at such times, the result can be infectious bursa. Bursitis takes around six weeks time to get cured completely, nut major symptoms causing bursitis will get cleared within three weeks of treatment. Complete bed rest must follow bursitis to avoid further damage to the bursa sac. You can make use of icing to reduce the swelling and pain but simultaneously the blood circulation in that area will get reduced. You can use topical cream to increase the blood flow.
